In December 2019, nearly 200 members of AVG’s community gathered at Lightbox in NYC for the latest installment of Spirits & Startups, the firm’s regular investor appreciation series.

See video policy below.

AVG has hosted functions in BostonNew York, and San Francisco, all designed to bring investors, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists together under one roof to celebrate a shared mission: doing well by doing good.

AVG’s dedication to impact investing was best exemplified by the evening’s keynote speaker, Ellevest CEO Sallie Krawcheck. As a 20-year veteran of Wall Street, Krawcheck saw a lack of investment options designed for women’s financial goals. She launched Ellevest to both redefine investing and create jobs in the financial sector for minority groups.

Krawcheck’s mission of creating new avenues to wealth for an underserved community spoke straight to AVG’s own business principles. Ellevest is a portfolio company of Nassau Street Ventures (for Princeton alums), Towerview Ventures (for Duke alums), Waterman Ventures (for Brown alums), and AVG’s Women’s Fund.

We encourage you to watch this video recapping the sights and sounds of the evening, including excerpts from Krawcheck’s speech as well as commentary from AVG’s CEO Michael Collins and CIO Anton Simunovic. Click here to learn more about how Ellevest and AVG connected over their shared mission of democratizing investment opportunities.
